IIBA® Melbourne - BABOK® Study Group
The IIBA® Melbourne branch will run a facilitated BABOK® Study Group that will cover the knowledge contained within the BABOK® v3 in a collaborative environment. This will be a professional development opportunity for business analysts looking to gain knowledge of the BABOK® and those seeking certification at ECBA, CCBA or CBAP level.
Facilitator Bio: Walter Yu – Managing Consultant, DXC Technology
Walter is a senior business analyst experienced with the various delivery approaches from Agile to the SDLC approach. He had worked in various capacities across different industry domains. Besides his full-time role as a business analyst, Walter is a mentor in various mentoring programmes and an adjunct faculty.

The purpose of the IIBA® Australia Study Groups is to:
- Provide a structured and shared experience to learn the content of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge Version 3 (BABOK®):
- Knowledge Areas
- Techniques
- Underlying Competencies
- To identify practices that may enhance your own business analysis performance.
- To share experiences and challenges and achieve a greater understanding of how to achieve business analysis success.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this study group:
- Participants will achieve a demonstrated understanding of the BABOK® content and know how to use the BABOK® for reference.
- Participants will gain an awareness of the IIBA® certification application process and examination.
The IIBA Australia Study Group has been recognized by IIBA Global and as such participants can earn up to 30 IIBA® Professional Development (PD) Hours.

Participant Commitment:
Participants are expected to:
- Prepare for each session by pre-reading the topic and related techniques.
- Contribute to discussion during the session and to any online discussion forum hosted for the study group.
- Create and deliver a presentation for one of the sessions
- Participants will be allocated into a team of one or two members
- Create and present one session on an allocated topic and related techniques – content including presentations will be made available to all other study group participants
- Facilitate the discussion for the session which you’re assigned to present.

Location: Online via Zoom
Date: 28th August 2023 to 13th November 2023
Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm AEST. Late arrivals may result in missing sessions and this may negatively impact your overall attendance rate and eligibility for credits.
Fee: $220 (GST Inc) Members Only. Fees paid for study group participation are not transferable and non-refundable.
Study groups are NOT training courses. The content is studied and delivered in a peer learning environment, NOT in “teacher–student mode”. The learning outcomes are largely (fully) dependent on the commitment and effort of individual participants. The facilitators are IIBA volunteers and are NOT professional trainers. The role of the facilitator is to support topic presenters and facilitate professional discussions.
